The Bear Chair is known for its comfort, natural look and timeless design. Did you know that you can also order the chair as a kit? Not only will you save a lot on the price, but you also choose a more sustainable way of shipping. Moreover, assembling the Bear Chair is incredibly easy. In this blog we explain how it works and why building your own chair might be just as much fun as sitting in it.
Ordering a Bear Chair as a kit is a great way to be involved with your chair from the very first moment. Many people really enjoy putting together their own Bear Chair and see it as a small, relaxing job where you get to know the thoughtful design well.
Why choose a Bear Chair kit?
A Bear Chair as a kit is a smart choice for anyone who loves quality, durability and a little DIY fun. Because the parts are compactly packed, transportation takes less space and therefore less CO2 emissions. This makes the kit not only more economical, but also significantly more sustainable than a fully assembled chair.
At the same time, assembly is surprisingly easy: all parts are precisely sized, the screw holes are pre-drilled and the manual guides you step by step through the process. So you don’t need to be an experienced handyman to successfully assemble the Bear Chair. With a little patience and a screwdriver, the chair will be ready in no time!

What’s in the kit?
The Bear Chair construction kit includes all the individual wooden parts, such as the back slats, seat slats, legs, armrests and support slats. Of course in the kit you will also find a bag of screws, a bit and gliders for under the legs. Everything is pre-drilled, labeled and conveniently packaged so you can get started immediately and easily.
Before you get started, check that really all the elements are in your kit. You can easily do that using the drawing in our extensive PDF manual that you can download below.
How to assemble the Bear Chair. (global step-by-step plan)
The complete, detailed explanation can be found in the PDF manual, and in the video below this roadmap. Would you first like to know roughly what you need to do to enjoy your Bear Chair? We write out the step-by-step plan below, so you can quickly get started assembling your Bear Chair.
1. Start at the front legs
You start by mounting the triangles and squares on the front legs. Just pre-drill where necessary and the parts fit perfectly right away.
2. Build up the backrest
The back consists of two canoe-shaped slats with the back slats over them. Distribute the boards evenly and screw them in place.
3. Place the seat
Now attach the front seat slat to the back legs and slide the backrest into the recess.
4. Add the seat slats
You distribute the five seat slats, as well as the comfort slat, evenly across the seat, then fasten them so they stay in place.
5. Mount the legs and stabilization
You connect the front legs to the back legs. Then you place the back support so that everything stands firmly.
6. Attach the armrests
You now screw the armrests onto the front and back of the chair. It’s a good idea to pre-drill briefly, which prevents the wood from splitting.
7. Gliders under the legs
Under each leg comes a glider. These ensure that the chair will not scratch your tiles. Then your chair is ready for use!
Self-assembly = enjoyment from the first moment
The nice thing about the Bear Chair kit is that anyone can do it. You don’t have to be an experienced handyman: most of the holes are pre-drilled, everything is labeled and the instructions are visual and clear.
